Meet Dorothy Tu, Deputy Director (Clinical), Pharmacy.

Q: Firstly, what is your coffee order?

Like a true Melbournian, I like my coffee simple and strong. My preferred coffee order is a Melbourne Magic.

Q: What does your role as Deputy Director of Pharmacy entail?

Aside from the managerial tasks associated with the job, the Deputy Director of Pharmacy (Clinical) involves supporting a team of highly skilled clinical pharmacists to ensure the hospital ward services are looked after with a strong focus on patient care and safety.

Q: How did you come to work in pharmacy?

I originally studied Pharmaceutical Science with a specialty in Formulation (so I learned how to make the drugs). However, after completing my course, I realised I enjoyed patient interaction and being involved in patient care. Alongside my talkative nature and wanting to help others, I also enjoyed physiology and the impact medicines have on the body. This propelled me to pursue pharmacy as a career and we can say the rest is history.

Q: What do you like to do in your spare time?

I am a true foodie at heart and have a love for traveling along with cocktail making.

Q: Where has been your favourite place to travel and why?

Florence is one of the most beautiful cities I have ever been to. The Duomo is an absolute stunner, not to mention the Italian history, delicious food, wonderful wine and deep culture. I would visit this city over and over again if I had the chance!
