Meet David Wright, Director of Nursing and Operations, Virtual Health, Northern Health.

Q. David, could I start with your coffee order, please?
A. A Strong flat white.

Q. You are the Director of Nursing and Operations. What does the job entail?
A. The Director of Operations is focused on the overall management and smooth functioning of Virtual Health, while the Director of Nursing is specifically responsible for providing nursing leadership and ensuring that nursing staff are supported to provide high-quality care.

Q. If you could describe Northern Health in a sentence, what would it be?
A. Northern Health is a forward-thinking health service that’s growing fast and evolving to meet the needs of the North and greater Victoria, with innovations like the Victorian Virtual Emergency Department and Victorian Virtual Specialist Consults.

Q. What has been your greatest achievement in life?
A. Without question, my kids. Poppy is four, Samuel is two, and our youngest, George, is just four weeks old.

Q. How do you unwind from work?
A. I start with a podcast during the drive home, followed by spending time with the kids, hearing about their day, and playing around with them. To end the night, some terrible reality TV.

Q. What is something that most people would not know about you?
A. I once studied in Mexico City and I did a homestay program; the only Spanish I can remember is ‘Dos cervezas, por favor’.

Q. What is your favourite holiday destination?
A. Locally, it’s heading up to Bundalong on the Murray River, and my favourite overseas holiday would have to be Italy, I can’t go past the food and the culture.
