Northern Health is committed to fostering a culture of learning, collaboration and professional growth. Our medical staff play an integral role in shaping the next generation of doctors through education, supervision, mentorship and research. Their dedication ensures our junior doctors receive exceptional training and support throughout their careers.

To acknowledge these outstanding contributions, we are pleased to announce the inaugural Northern Doctors Education (NDE) Awards, which will recognise excellence in medical education across Northern Health.

The evening ceremony will be held on 12 November, featuring special guest speaker Dr Linda Appiah-Kubi, Consultant Geriatrician and Communications Skills Coach with an interest in safer work and educational culture. The event will conclude with light refreshments.

Here are the Award Categories:

1. Excellence in Supervision
2. Excellence in Clinical Teaching
3. Mentor of the Year
4. Research Supervisor of the Year

Kim Jeffs, Director of Northern Doctors Education, says, “I am delighted to launch our inaugural Education Awards Night, which celebrates the exceptional commitment of our medical staff to creating a strong learning culture and delivering world-class education and training for the medical leaders of tomorrow.”

Nominations are now open until 6 October, and you are invited to nominate an individual, including yourself, or a unit for recognition, including your own. Multiple nominations are welcome.

The judging panel will include NDE staff, Executive members, and a junior medical staff (JMS) representative. Winners will be announced at the inaugural NDE awards on Wednesday, 12 November.
